Kun Aguero Takes Over The English Premier League

In the season opener game the Argentine striker came in from the bench to score two goals and give one assist during Manchester City’s 4-0 victory over Swansea. When Sergio Kun Aguero arrived to Manchester City this summer the expectations on him were set up high, not only because of the E 42 million transfer fee paid to Atletico de Madrid, but also due to the fact that with just 23 years he has surpassed the 100th goal barrier. In his debut 30 minutes were enough to confirm why the Citizens can dream about flying high now that he is on board. Aguero gave the fans a taste of his class by scoring two goals and giving one assist to Spaniard David Silva coming in from the bench, in the 4-0 win at home against Swansea.

Aguero’s superb performance has helped his team begin the 2011-12 English Premier League season in the right tracks, leaving behind the bitter taste of having blown out a two-goal lead against their city archrivals Manchester United last week, during the dispute of the Community Shield that they lost 3-2. Coach Roberto Mancini did pay attention to the fans present at the Etihad Stadium this past Sunday that claimed to see their new star on the pitch, fulfilling their requests at the 60th minute, just 3 minutes after Bosnian Edin Dzeko gave them the 1-0 lead. With a standing ovation the Citizens welcomed Aguero, who substituted midfielder Niguel De Jong to give the squad more depth in attack.

Just eight minutes were needed by him to correspond the fans their appreciation by scoring the first goal as a Citizen. In that play he connected a cross from Micah Richards and sent the ball to the back of the net, giving his team a two goal lead with 22 minutes to go. After proven his skills as a top scorer, Aguero gave the fans a taste of his ability to assist teammates by flicking overhead a ball that seemed lost, serving Silva the third goal of the match. And there was going to be time left for Aguero, who was on fire, to add one more in the epilogue of the game with a 35 yard shot that set free the joy in the stands.

With this performance Aguero has proven to be the missing link that the Citizens where in need of to fight for the Premier League title head to head with Chelsea and Manchester United, teams that have dominated the league in the past seven season, with three championships for the Blues and four for the Red Devils. The Citizens next rival will be Bolton Wanderers on the road this coming Sunday, where the first place will be in game, since the Trotters also won their season opener by 4-0 on their visit to Queens Park Rangers. After his superb exhibition Aguero’s chances of coming in from the start are growing, although it is imminent that once he is 100% fit (since he didn’t complete the full preseason with the squad) his place in the starting 11 is guaranteed.
